Macquarie University is on track to becoming one of Australia's leading research universities.
For this reason students who want to achieve more in their studies, and get more out of their time at University, should choose to study English at Macquarie University English Language Centre. Expert instruction in English language that focuses on proficiency and accuracy improves confidence as students realise that they are communicating what they intend to.
Later when the students are confident in using English they can participate in leadership programs organised by the University, undertake an internship or volunteering experience, or join social activities with students from other cultures. All of these types of experiences continue to enhance and develop their English skills. The Macquarie University English Language Centre commitment to the students continues after they graduate. The Grade Performance Accelerator Program (free to ELC graduates) ensures students continue to develop English and University skills in a supported environment throughout their degree.
Macquarie University was formally established in 1964 with the passage of the Macquarie University Act 1964 by the New South Wales parliament.
Macquarie University brings together 40.000 students and 2.000 staff. The campus has 126 hectares, with open green space. Like a miniature city, Macquarie has a vast array of amenities on campus including a bookshop, a bar and several cafés. And, the University is within walking distance to a major shopping precinct.
It is a diverse campus, with a strong focus on equity, diversity and inclusion. Staff and students form more than 100 countries study and work here. A range of services support students from culturally diverse backgrounds, Indigenous Australians, students who identify as GLBTIQ and those with a disability.
